Ardnamurchan

Ardnamurchan, Acharacle
Loch Shiel, Glenfinnan
Lochaber

Ardnamurchan stands out towards the sea on the furthest west point of the UK mainland. It is a wild and remote area of outstanding natural beauty, where, as the local tourist leaflet puts it, the sun sets later and the pace seems easier.

It has attracted tourists for the scenery, the wildlife, the flora, and the peace, and recently for the same reasons it has attracted a number of newcomers, some of whom bring with them great talents which the festival seeks to use.

Bonnie Prince Charlie

Much the same applies to The Road to the Isles, past Glenfinnan, along which, when there was no more than a track, the Bonnie Prince fled for Skye and France after Culloden. A monument marks the spot where the ill-fated adventure began, now one of the most photographed views in Scotland. Close by and sharing that view is the Church of St Finan where many of the Loch Shiel Spring Festival concerts take place. From there the town of Fort William is 20 minutes drive away.
Skye
There is a railway station close by, visited daily by the steam train in the summer and cruises on Loch Shiel, aboard the M.V. Sileas, leave from here daily.

Full details about the area can be found by visiting the sites on our skye webpage.
